6 Ways You Can Drastically Build Your Self-Confidence

25th November 2009 Self Development 0 Comments

A lot of smart and talented people lack the confidence to show their abilities. And so they lurk around everyone else without getting noticed. Or worse, other people take advantage of their abilities and take credit for their work. If you are one of them, it’s time to assert yourself and get noticed!

1. Begin with Good Posture

Good posture immediately signals an air of confidence. By sitting or walking with a straight back, you will not only look confident but you will feel confident as well. On the other hand, if you slouch and you move in lethargic movements, you will be like a doormat nobody notices. Having good posture can take practice but if you begin now and are conscious about this, you will get it right in no time at all.

2. Dress for Success

To feel confident about yourself, you should have a good image about yourself. By dressing up appropriately and nicely, you will look and feel good. This attitude can be carried on to your work and your whole career. By looking good, you will feel people begin to be impressed and even begin to look up to you too. This can boost your ego and your confidence more.

This does not mean, though, that you have to invest on a lot of expensive clothes. Dressing for success simply means you have to be choosy. Instead of buying cheaper clothes in greater quantity, buy better quality even if this means getting fewer clothes.

3. Put Some Pep in Your Stride

When you walk faster, it signals to everyone that you are a busy person. Perhaps you are in a hurry going to a meeting or to get back to work. Making this impression can be important since confidence really begins with your notion about how other people see you. So even if you are not really in a hurry, maintain the same confident stride and make yourself feel more important and needed.

4. Look at What You’ve Accomplished in the Past

When your confidence starts waning, it helps to remind yourself what you are capable of doing. So to maintain that self confidence, remind yourself of the positive things happening in your life everyday. Think of your past accomplishments as well.

5. Stay in the Front Line

People usually choose to stay at the back in seminars and conferences,. This time, make a different move by staying in front instead. It is like confronting your fears. Take advantage of this opportunity to connect with important people there. Being able to do so will give you a sense of accomplishment and really boost your confidence too.

6. Try Working Out

Physical activity is a good way to release the stresses in your mind and body. It is also a good way to shape up your body. When you look great physically, you again boost your confidence. This will even help you to be more energetic at work and wherever you may go.

These are only 6 ways you can try to drastically build your self-confidence. Of course, there are many more tips, but the ones above should help you get started.
